Saturday, September 8, 2007, 6pm Don't miss the Lemon Parade! It travels right down Highway Avenue, right through charming Downtown Highland, and ends at Main Square Park. One of the tallest floats, with lemon trees, was created by the Highland Chamber of Commerce, the host of the Midwest Zest Fest. The judges of the Parade watch as all of the entries pass in front of their Court of A-Peels. Would you like to be in the parade? The Highland Chamber of Commerce is inviting community organizations, local businesses, clubs, teams, marching bands, and even families to participate in the Lemon Parade—during the Midwest Zest Fest. Kids and adults are welcome. You can drive a float, ride in a decorated car (lemons welcome), walk, march or even dance. We are looking for creative and wacky floats and costumes (think Pierogi Fest in Whiting). This is a parade with a twist. Lemon themed entries or not, we are looking for people that have a zest for life. We hope you will join the fun. Call Pat Popa at 838-7700 if you have any questions. Line up will start promptly at 5:00 pm at 1st Street at Highway Avenue. REMEMBER, NO CANDY SHOULD BE THROWN FROM VEHICLES in order to avoid children running out onto the street. People may walk along the curb and hand out candy. At the end of the parade, entries are to continue on to 5th Street and then to Condit Avenue to disassemble. The Highland Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to refuse/reject any entry determined to be inappropriate for the festival by the Midwest Zest Fest or parade committee.
